Kenya is seeking to acquire multiple integrated laser engagement systems (MILES) for training purposes. The US Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) said Kenya is seeking information and data to potentially procure MILES Force-on-Force equipment to enhance their training and defense capabilities under Building Partnership Capacity (BPC).
The FBO has said that it is looking into finding suitable sources with the ability and availability for the production, operator’s and maintenance training materials, spares, and New Equipment Training (NET) for 132 of the Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement System (MILES) Individual Weapon System (IWS) kits for Kenya.
MILES is used by the US military and other armed forces around the world for training purposes. It uses lasers and blank cartridges to simulate actual battle, with lasers attached to weapons that emit beams that are detected by the sensors attached to other participants in the simulation when fired accurately.
Once purchased, MILES will help the Kenyan forces with battlefield readiness with accuracy and stealth that will aid in improving the capabilities in kinetic combat especially for her role in the war against al Shabaab in Somalia.
