Dozens of Boko Haram militants have been killed by Nigerian military airstrikes who conducted a series of strikes in the militant’s stronghold. The airstrikes targeted a major tactical base of the terror group in the country’s northeastern state of Borno.
The air task force of the military, which carried out the raid, also decimated the major tactical base of Boko Haram at Izza, a location on the fringes of the Sambisa forest in Borno.
The location was designated for an attack after a series of intelligence surveillance and reconnaissance missions had established that the location was being used as a staging area from where the Boko Haram elements launch their attacks.
The increased airstrikes may be viewed as a way for the Nigerian military to gain an upper hand against the militants who have in the past attacked military bases in the Lake Chad region countries. The use of airstrikes may be the much-needed relief to decapitate the Boko Haram terrorists in Nigeria and her neighbors.
