In an effort to boast defense relations between the India and Mozambique, India has completed the delivery of two fast interceptor vessels to the Mozambique Navy (Marinha de Guerra de Moçambique).
The Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who is on a three-day visit to Mozambique signed a memorandum of understanding to support Mozambique defense besides support the southeast African nation fight terrorism and radicalization.
The two Fast Interceptor boats will be used for coastal surveillance. The two India-made boats were handed over at a ceremony at the Mozambican Naval Headquarters with the handing-over certificate being signed by the Director-General, Coast Guards of India, K Natarajan, and Chief of Mozambican Navy.

The development comes as New Delhi has upped engagement on defense with Indian Ocean countries in the backdrop of growing Chinese influence here.
This is the first visit of Rajnath Singh abroad as Defense Minister and also the first-ever visit of Defense Minister of India to Mozambique.
