The US has announced that it will reduce its troops serving in African missions by about 10% over the next few years.
There are about 7,200 military forces currently serve in the US Africa Command (AFRICOM)
Pentagon in a statement noted that, in West Africa, many jihadist groups remain active and said that it will shift it mission from tactical assistance to advising, assisting, liaising, and sharing intelligence.
The Pentagon also confirmed that by reduction of troops in Africa, it will counter-terror operations largely untouched in several countries, including Somalia, Djibouti and Libya.
Commander Candice Tresch, a Pentagon spokeswoman official, said the reduction of troops would likely take place over three years and could include countries like Kenya, Cameroon and Mali.
