China has unveiled its first robot missile boat displayed at Airshow China 2018 in Zhuhai developed by the Yunzhou Tech company. The boat called Look Out II is loaded with 4 precision missiles that can hit targets 5 kilometers away, equipped a radar and electro-optical system enabling it to carry out reconnaissance missions.
The boat has the same dimensions as a U.S. Coast Guard Defender and has four small boxes that can fit an anti-tank missile. The boat has been tested and appears to have higher levels of precision and will be steered by an AI (artificial intelligence).
Some of the advantages of the vessel are that it is smaller, faster, stealthier than most vessels available and as such, it can get closer to its target and launch close-quarters strikes. This makes China the second country to create an unmanned missile boat after Israel and Yunzhou Tech intends to offer the Look Out II to the Chinese military.
The missile boat will change the face of naval combat as most navies are changing tact by using many smaller vessels other than having one warship that can be easily sunk. The navies of the world are bracing for “swarm boat” attacks in which a flotilla of small boats will attempt to overwhelm larger targets such as destroyers or aircraft carriers, like a pack of hyenas trying to bring down an elephant.
