At least 12 Al-Shabaab militants were killed and several others injured after an airstrike pounded an Al-Shabaab target in Sakow town, Middle Jubba, southern Somalia.
Military intelligence reports indicate that, the airstrike targeted an Al-Shabaab militant’s meeting where about 37 militants were reportedly planning to carry attacks at undisclosed located.
Corresponding reports by Adam Isak Ali, Deputy Minister of Information of Somalia indicate that, the intelligence led strike saw more than 12 Al-Shabaab militants killed and several others injured in successful overnight airstrike in Sakow, an Al-Shabaab major stronghold.
He also added that senior some Al-Shabaab militant commanders were among those targeted in the attack, saying former group’s chief for Kismayo town in lower Jubba, Hassan Yacqub was among those injured in the attack.
Humiliated Al-Shabaab militants claimed the attack in the town killed three children and also targeted a college and a hospital in the town on their affiliated propaganda websites.
