Iraqi Air Force began carrying out coordinated air strikes on Islamic State positions in Syria alongside the Syrian government. The airstrikes are being conducted using the F-16s to bombard ISIS terrorists’ positions in Syria on the border with Iraq.
According to Brig. Gen. Yahya Rasool of the Iraqi Air Force, the airstrike missions were based out of Iraq and done cross-border with the Syrian government’s permission while the United States led anti-Islamic State coalition provided target intelligence for the strikes.
The airstrikes are targeted at dismantling the remaining pockets held by the Islamic State as the terror organization scrambles to regroup. The joint operations against the Daesh are proving successful seeing as ISIS’ second in command and other top commanders were killed in the airstrikes last week.
