The US Department of State added two Lashkar-e-Taiba Fronts, 7 of its leaders to the terrorism list.
Milli Muslim League (MML) and Tehreek-e- Azadi-e Kashmir (TAJK), which were identified as Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) fronts have been designated as terrorist fronts.
Also, the Treasury Department added seven members of MML’s leadership council to the list of Specially Designated Global Terrorists.
Trump administration continues to pressure Pakistan to tackle terrorist groups that openly operate inside the country with the approval and collaboration of both military and governments.
Lashkar-e-Taiba was added to the US-list of Foreign Terrorist Organizations in Dec. 2001. This is after LeT and Jaish-e-Mohammed, an allied terrorist group, attacked the Indian Parliament. LeT has thrived inside Pakistan as it alleged is the state’s favored terrorist outfit.
LeT founder and its current emir, Hafiz Saeed, and its various charitable fronts, is one of the most wanted terrorists in the world. Saeed is listed by the US as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist and has a $10 million bounty for information leading to his capture and conviction.
LeT leader is third after Al-Qaeda emir Ayman al Zawahiri and Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al Baghdadi, the two have a higher bounty, at $25 million each.
Despite this, he operates openly in Pakistan with the support of the state, a move that continues angers Trump administration.
