At least 36 suspects, including on-duty soldiers and police officers, were arrested across Turkey on Saturday over suspected links to the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO), the group behind last year’s defeated coup, according to a security source. Among the arrested is a married couple that is responsible for the group’s propaganda magazine.
The members of the terror organization have been using an encrypted phone messaging app to communicate which the cybersecurity team in Turkey used to track and uncover the locations of members in the past year.
The security sources said that of the arrested are seven on-duty soldiers police, teachers, and nurses who were all apprehended in different parts of the country.
FETO under the leadership of it US-based leaders Gulen orchestrated a failed coup in 2016 that left 250 dead and 2200 injured.
