Iranian president Hassan Rouhani has threatened to pull his country out the 2015 Nuke deal that saw Tehran allow for inspection and regulation of the country’s nuclear program. The deal was reached after the top world powers came to an agreement that included the lifting of sanctions on Iran in exchange for limits on its nuclear program. Rouhani made the remarks in a televised address to the parliament where he warned the Trump Administration against further sanction imposition as it would lead to the collapse of the deal. Members of the Iranian parliament voted overwhelmingly to increase the military and missile program spending in response to legislation passed by US Congress and Signed by Trump to impose sanctions on Iran.
The repercussions of the 2015 Nuke deal collapse would be dire as it would shake the stability of global alliances and powers. The absence of the deal would redouble Iran’s commitment to their nuclear ambitions which would pose a significant security threat to the West and their allies.
Moreover, the collapse of the US-negotiated deal would give Russia and the China the much-needed power to roll back the Western-led post-World War II global order that would cause unpleasant security effects with the worst case scenario being the trigger for World War III.
