Somali’s President Mohamed Abdullahi ‘Farmajo’ told Arab League leaders of terrorism challenges facing his country.
President Mohamed was invited in the annual summit attended by 21 Arab League Member States in Sweimeh, Jordon.
During the meeting issues of war affecting parts of Syria, Yemen and Iraq were discussed.
The Somali President, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo told the group of Arab leaders that terrorism was the biggest threat to Somali stability. The President also noted of prolonged drought in the country that has caused famine.
The President used the stage to raise awareness of atrocities caused by the Al-Qaeda linked Al-Shabaab saying is the biggest affront of Somalia stability and progress.
Humanitarian efforts also another crises trying to be ferried to the famine hit regions under the control of the Islamist group, Al-Shabaab.
President Mohamed however noted of selfless efforts by AU peacekeeping force in Somalia battling Al-Shabaab. He lauded Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, Burundi and Djibouti for contributing peacekeeping troops to help eliminate Al-Shabaab in an effort to stabilize Somalia.
