Dar es Salaam Special Zone police on Thursday 17th November 2016 apprehended four women and four children at a ‘terrorist training camp’.
Police report indicate that the women and children were discovered hiding in a house reportedly with a training ground for terrorism activities.
It is saddening terrorism in Tanzania taking a new turn with recruitment and indoctrination of children.
Report from Dar es Salaam Special Zone Police Commander, Simon Sirro reveal that eight children were found at a house belonging to a man identified as Suleiman at Kilongoni-Vikindu area about 30 kilometers from the capital city.
According to Sirro, a father of one of the children arrested in the den had reported to the police of his child disappearance since June. Four others reported are still missing.
Police upon interrogating the suspects learnt that the eight children were trained judo, karate, kungfu and use of weapons and firearms.
The suspects also added that they were attending Madrasa classes at a neighbouring ‘camp’ where they also received training on the use of guns and fighting techniques.
Tanzania security forces are on high alert following increased children recruitment in to criminal and terrorism groups.
In October this year, Tanzania police arrested a Madrasa teacher on claims of training children on terrorism in Bagamoyo.
The female ‘Madrasa teacher’was arrested alongside 22 children, 16 of them being young girls.
