U.S. Director of National Intelligence James Clapper on Thursday 17th November 2016 said that he had tendered his resignation.
His resignation comes at a time U.S. President-elect Donald Trump begins to pull together his new administration.
Clapper’s job was to coordinate the work of 17 different agencies among them the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and the National Security Agency (NSA).
In Congressional hearing, Clapper said he will not available to head the National Intelligence on January 20 when the President-elect takes the oval office.
Clapper 75, a retired Air Force Lieutenant General submitted his letter of resignation after serving for 6 years as U.S. top spy.
Confirming that, the Directorate of National Intelligence (DNI) later tweeted: "As required of all appointed Administration officials, DNI Clapper has signed a letter of resignation effective at noon on Jan 20, 2017."
