Latest reports from Somalia indicate that Puntland President Abdiweli Mohamed Ali and Galmudug’s Abdikarim Hussein Guled, have discussed and accepted a peace deal aimed at ending hostility between the two administrations based in Galkayo.
A close source said Somali Federal leaders imitated a pact to end the frequent clashes in September 10.
Under the brokered peace deal, both Puntland and Galmudug administrations will implement ceasefire and refrain from actions that could fuel conflics.
This is the second peace deal to be brokered between Puntland and Galmudug following collopse of another brokered by Somali leaders and International community in December 2015.
At least 15 people have been killed and more than 50 others injured in recent clashes between forces loyal to Puntland and Galmudug in Galkayo town of Mudug region.
About 50,000 residents have fled their homes since the outbreak of Galkayo conflict in October this year, according to the UN.
The key town of Galkayo is divided into two zones, with the northern part of the city forming part of Puntland state, while the southern part is under the Galmudug administration.
