South Sudan government has deployed a huge force in Juba after its security officers were reportedly killed along Juba-Nimule road by unknown gunmen.
According to security officers who survived the attack, they claimed the attackers were not ordinary criminals saying they were using sophisticated weapons including anti-personnel bombs and rocket-propelled grenades in the attack thus suspecting they were allied to the opposition leader, the former First Vice President, Riek Machar.
The Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA), has deployed troops in response to the situation on very important road (economically) connecting Uganda and South Sudan.
Police spokesperson, Brigadier General Daniel Justin Boulo confirmed that two army officers were killed and others sustained injuries after being attacked by unknown gunmen on the road.
Corresponding reports by residents of Nesito confirm of security presence, convoy with large police team, paramilitary officers and government forces patrolling Juba-Nimule road.
Shaky situation continues to loom in Juba as IGAD resolution on two leaders, Kiir and Machar to implement fully the signed August 2015 peace deal is yet to happen.
Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta who visited Juba on Tuesday called on the two leaders to put their differences aside and put the people of South Sudan first.
