The African Union peacekeeping mission in Somalia (AMISOM) has called in joint cooperation in fighting youth radicalization in Somalia.
AMISOM has called on Somali populous to cooperate with Security forces (army and police) to fight radicalization and enhance peace in the war-torn Somalia.
AMISOM’s Chief Inspector, John Marete speaking at a community sensitization meeting on countering violent extremism in Beletweyne town said that terrorism is the greatest threat towards Somali stability.
AMISOM is conducting series of meetings aimed at raising awareness of cooperating with security forces in countering violent extremism and radicalization of youth as the country gears up towards the upcoming polls.
According to AMISOM Assistant Superintended of Police Cecilia Appiah Ampofo the aim is to interact and encourage community members to share information with the police and encourage collaboration in fighting crime.
