Following years of conflict/civil war in the world’s youngest nation, South Sudan, these crisis have greatly hurt the country’s economy.
On Sunday 21st August 2016, Kenyan government pledged its support to South Sudan towards economic recovery.
Though State House Manoah Esipisu, Kenya issued a statement acknowledging her willingness to support South Sudan tackle her economic challenges caused by political conflict.
According to Esipisu, the idea to support South Sudan is in spirit with President Uhuru Kenyatta commitment to bring peace to the region and ensuring South Sudan bounce back economically.
President Uhuru Kenyatta last week held talks with South Sudan delegations where he pledged Kenya’s support upon request by South Sudan.
"We can also confirm that the South Sudan delegation made requests regarding the possibility of Kenya supporting their country at this time when they are facing severe economic challenges," Esipisu said while addressing journalists in Nairobi.
The newly appointed First Vice President Taban Deng Gai who had led South Sudan delegation to Kenya presented economic program to President Kenyatta seeking Kenya’s help.
