Media reports that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu faced a real threat on his life while on his 3 day visit in Kenya has been described by both Kenya and Israeli Intelligence Services as nonsense and alarmist.
The National Intelligence Service of Kenya (NIS) found the media reports on Jerusalem Post as malicious and contemptuous. The Israeli Premier was not in harm’s way whatsoever. His itinerary in Nairobi was not changed let alone rescheduled. No routes of his convoy were altered due to a national security or direct threat on him.
The objective of such speculation and propaganda is to hurt the image of the Republic of Kenya. Such information can only be viewed skeptically since it's meant to spell out 'insecurity in Kenya' which isn't the case at all.
The Kenya Security Intelligence services made it clear that;
- There was no assassination attempt or plan by anyone on the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu
- At no point was there any disagreement/arguments between the Kenyan and Israeli security teams
- Both security teams were working jointly for the past 6 months purposely for the great visit
- The PM Itinerary was at no point changed due to security concerns
According to the media reports, PM Netanyahu faced a direct threat on his life, that the National Intelligence Service (NIS) provided intelligence and plan of action (POA) to preempt the threat on the Israeli PM.
The Israeli intelligence Services (MOSSAD) discredited the story terming it as utter nonsense. Prime Minister Netanyahu laughed off the report at Ethiopia.
Kenya and Israeli security agencies work closely. Israel and Kenya reengineered their ties in the hope of ensuring greater benefits are achieved in near future.
