Wednesday, June 8, 2016, an EgyptAir flight destined for China was prompted to make an emergency landing in Uzbekistan after bomb threat.
The airline received a call claiming that there was a bomb on board forcing the plane to make the emergency landing, two Egyptian aviation officials said.
The plane had 118 passengers and 17 crew members, all were evacuated at Urgench International Airport, in the east of the country and the search was conducted according to local authorities but the bomb threat was a hoax.
"The plane is preparing to resume its journey. It was a hoax, thank God," said one of the officials.
EgyptAir has received a number of bomb threats.
On May 19, one of its aircraft from Paris to Cairo with 66 people on board crashed into the Mediterranean Sea.
The details of rescue operation of that fateful flight remain sketchy.
