In March 2016, the Kenya Security and Intelligence Services infitrated, disrupted, and crushed Al-Qaeda's branch in Somalia Harakat Al-Shabaab Al-Mujahideen terrorist movement (HSM) largest Mosque, hospital, and stalls business-driven economy managed by a man identified as Dr Abdullah Waitutu and owned by HSM Kenyan leader Ahmad Iman Ali.
Intelligence reports outline the dealings of Pumwani Riyadha Masjid, stalls-based businesses, clinics, and drug smuggling and how these businesses help Al-Shabaab funnel the proceeds/money, through Dhabshil money transfer system, into secretive NGO's and phony businesses in Somalia.
The findings expose the Nairobi based mosque Pumwani Riyadha Masjid, Dhabshil Money Transfer firm, Dr Abdullah Waititu, Ali Abdulmajid, and Ahmad Iman Ali, the HSM Kenyan leader with a bounty on his head (the terrorists escaped death narrowly when angry residents nearly lynched him).
Analysis
Ahmad Iman Ali, the leader of Al-Qaeda's branch in Somalia Harakat Al-Shabaab Al-Mujahideen terrorist movement (HSM), won't be recruiting 'money driven foreign jihadists' let alone manage to pay his child terrorists. His coffers are dry. This is after Kenyan elite security agents unearthed his business network run by Dr Abdullah Waititu aka Duktur under the auspices of the Pumwani Riyaadha Masjid Mosque in the capital Nairobi.
Dr Waititu or Duktur, a pharmacists at Kangundo District Hospital in Eastern Kenya, (according to OSINT reports and credible intelligence reports from our sources) serves as the treasurer at Pumwani Riyaadha Masjid, a Mosque described by Counter-Terrorism officials as a radicalization center.
Pumwani Riyaadha Masjid Mosque is ran by a cartel put in place by Ahmad Iman Ali prior to his escape to Somalia. The Mosque controls large business through stalls and related business at Gikomba area including the main market. The Mosque transfers over KSH 5,000,000.00 (USD 50,000) monthly to Somalia via Dhabshil Money Transfer Network in Eastleigh area and the Central Business District in Nairobi. The business proceeds finance Ahmad Iman Ali's terror activities (Al-Shabaab doesn't finance affiliates fully rather encourages them to engage in business to generate revenue for their survival). Among those who manage this network are suspected Kenya parliament bomber Ali Abdulmajid aka Alibody who works at the Senate of Kenya.
Counter-terrorism police and the intelligence services warn that the Pumwani Riyaadha Masjid Mosque is in the hands of the Harakat Al-Shabaab Al-Mujahideen terrorist movement and its urgent the Mosque is returned to the people.
The disruption of the business and subsequent unearthing of the Al-Shabaab operatives such as Ali Abdul Majid, and Abdullah Waititu will go along way to stymie recruitment of jihadists by Al-Hijra terror group, an affiliate of the Al-Shabaab. It also cutsoff financing of terror activities across the Eastern, North Eastern, and Coastal Kenya, where terror cells have been operating.
