Police parade the three suspects held in connection with forgery scheme

Monday 21st March 2016, Police and Intelligence officers acting on a tip-off stormed offices in Mogadishu and arrested three people reportedly involved in a forgery scheme.
During the raid hundreds of fake/forged documents were recovered.
Police and Intelligence officers attached to Hodan district in Mogadishu raided offices where the three assailants were operating from before parading them at the Intelligence agency headquarters for interrogation.

The forged document included school certificates, land title deeds, government identification cards, and passports among others.
According to Banaadir governor Yusuf Jima’ale, the forgery was widespread and poses huge threat to National Security citing that fake government passes could be handed over to Al-Shabaab.
“Al-Shabaab elements could be involved in this cartel making fake passports and Identification cards. Militants could easily get access into government installations or any other place they may want to target for attack,” Jima’ale said.
Jima’ale said that the government will interrogate the three for more leads and to establish if the forgery scheme is linked to the terror group, Al-Shabaab.
He also said that the government will launch sustained fight against forgery the same way it’s doing with Al-Shabaab.
