OSINT Summary:
Following the Sunday attack on Ankara, Turkey that killed 36 people, Turkish warplanes on Monday March 14th struck Kurdistan’s Workers’ Party (PKK) bases in northern Iraq. Reports indicate that the fighters suffered high causalities both physical and supplies.
The warplanes’ targets include arms depots and shelters of the PKK terrorists in the mountainous regions of Kandil and Gara in north Iraq. The attacks were conducted with the utmost precision with no civilian casualties.
Despite no group officially claiming responsibility, Turkey has waged heavy assault against the PKK fighters in northern Iraq in a bid to annihilate them and the ideologies they spread.
The attacks were fueled by the collapse of a truce between the Turkish government and the PKK fighters in 2015 after which clashes between fighters and security forces resumed in Turkey’s southeastern region.
