Reports from Morocco Interior Ministry indicate that an Islamic State cell was on Thursday busted in possession of biological weapons with an intention to launch attacks.
On February 22, 2016, another IS splinter cell was busted in the country, and following credible intelligence an ambush was conducted and the cell members were arrested.
During the raid large cache of weapons, four machine guns, rifles equipped with latest technology of viewfinder, 13 tear gas bombs, explosives making materials and an ISIS flags were recovered.
In a statement, the Ministry of Interior said the security officers had foiled what would have been a catastrophic and dangerous IS terrorist attack in the country.
The raid saw ten suspects arrested including a French national.
The mastermind and the leader of the cell was arrested inside a safe house in Morocco’s city of El Jadida, some 190 kilometers southwest of capital Rabat.
Initial investigations have found toxic and lethal biological substances on some products recovered from the raid.
Investigations also showed that the cell had completed the preparation of these deadly products for their terrorist scheme and were at the last stage to strike the Kingdom when they were busted.
