28th January 2016: At least 30 were killed in a fresh wave of ISIL attacks incorporating different attack methods ranging from suicide attacks, sniper fire and roadside bombs targeted at the Iraqi forces and their tribal militia allies around the city of Ramadi.
The attacks come barely a week after 50 Iraqi soldiers and pro-government tribal fighters were killed near the city of Ramadi. Ramadi was announced liberated from ISIL in January by the Iraqi forces marking the largest conquest against the group by the government forces as Ramadi was the largest operational base of the militants in Iraq.
ISIL is trying to recapture the city by attacking the forces but military sources have confirmed and asserted their strong grip on the city citing land mines and terrain knowledge as the reason fighters seem to successfully execute attacks on the forces.
