Seven families from the Ifo refugee camp in Kenya’s North Eastern province left for Mogadishu, Somalia on Monday 2nd November as part of the ongoing repatriation of Somali refugees in Kenya.
Kenya’s Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery saw off the 41 Somalis at the Dadaab Airstrip, in company of Garissa Township MP Aden Duale, Northeastern regional coordinator Mohamud Saleh and United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees officials.
In his addrees during the 66th Session of the Executive Committee of the High Commissioner’s Programme in Geneva Switzerland, Nkaissery urged the global community to help relocate the Somali refugees.
The global hesitation to help in the course deal a huge blow to Kenya’s effort to fight terror and in the same course helps Somalia to grow.
Nkaisserry addressed the recent challenge posed by the refugee camps that have turned into terrorist havens and points for terrorism activities.
The repatriation process is however not going as first as it should especially because it is very crucial to Somalia’s August 2016 polls that will determine the political and democratic direction of the country.
