The Kenyan Clergy from the mainstream Churches have called for peace and tolerance in the wake of the Garissa recent attacks by Somali based Islamists Harakat al-Shabaab al-Mujahideen. The Interdenominational Leaders of the Churches stressed it out that it is important to join hands with the Government and help it fight war against terrorism.
While the security apparatus should work harder to realize security for the country, the clergy stressed out that it is important for all Kenyans to come together despite the difference in their religion or political affiliation.
Let not politicize the security issue but let embrace a sense of nationhood and stand in unity that security is responsibility for everyone. Ethnic divisions, security blame game should be a thing of the past, Christians and Muslims should coexist in unity, members of the public to help in intelligence gathering and sharing it with the relevant security agents.
Community policing is another area where citizens can help security of the country to be restored by reporting anything suspicious, crime activities and also embracing the ‘Nyumba Kumi Initiative’ the country will prevail and sail through this difficult moment.
