2 Terrorists Killed in Gedo Shootout

At least two terrorists have reportedly been killed in a fierce shootout between them and Federal government forces (SNA) in the country’s southern Gedo region on Wednesday.

According to military sources, the battle erupted after SNA forces launched an attack against Al-Shabaab makeshift camp in their stronghold near Bardere town.

Residents in Daar Maclin, about 30Km away from Bardere, where the clashes took place said the attack began at around 9:00 a.m. local time, sparking a deadly gunfight between the sides.

The situation in the area reportedly returned to normal. However, reports indicated that there is still a military movement by the warring sides, which could ignite potential clashes.

The Al-Qaeda linked Al-Shabaab has lost key urban strongholds in Gedo region, and some parts of the country, but the Militants group still pull sporadic attacks targeting SNA and AMISOM forces.
