The President of the Republic of Kenya Uhuru Kenyatta recently cut short his trip to the United States following closure of the Yemeni airspace by the Saudi Arabia military..
A Late notice by the Saudi Arabia military intelligence to Riyadh Aviation which was circulated to all flights that were scheduled to use this particular flight path led to the impromptu cancellation of the Presidents flight to Dubai and then to the United States.
Intelligence reports confirm that Saudi Arabia closed all the Yemeni airspace from all commercial flights allowing only military aviation transport flights (MAT) and surveillance and reconnaissance flights commissioned by the joint military taskforce conducting sorties in Yemeni.
Contrary to some sections of mainstream Kenyan media, The closure of the Yemeni airspace by Riyadh affected the flight plan of the Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta plane.
It is important to note that, the Republic of Ethiopia or any other East African nation did not threaten to shoot down the President’s plane at any point as reported by some Kenyan journalists in their social media accounts
Riyadh closed the airspace late to resume aerial bombings in Yemeni. It is important to note that the cancellation of flights alert could not be issued earlier for such action would have alerted the targets and compromise Saudi air force operations against specific targets in Yemeni.
Prior to this, the airspace was open since there was a ceasefire which the Houthi rebels abused factoring the impromptu closure of the Yemeni airspace.
All commercial flights were using this airspace prior to the closure by Riyadh. This path is an international air-path/route and the President of the Republic of Kenya had been cleared to use it.
Why did the President’s plane not use the flight path used by other commercial flights which flew to Dubai around the same time?

Bottomline, the Yemeni airspace was closed more than 30 days ago and all commercila and private aircrafts flying to and from UAE have been re-routed via Saudia so please stop this nonsensical speculations. Besides, any airpsace closures are circulated through ICAO and the Presidents routing is communicated via Diplomatic channels and a overflight or landing permit number is given by the respective states and only then can the pilot file a flight plan…..
