On 1st June 2016, eight people were killed in terror attack linked to the ISIS terrorist group in Tanga. Less than a fortnight, similar attacks had happened in Mwanza.
On 27th June 2016, Tanzanian police reportedly shot dead two ISIS suspects linked to the brutal killings witnessed in Tanga and Mwanza.
The two suspects were gunned by police at two separate incidents in Dar es Salaam according Dar es Salaam Special Police Zone Commander Simon Sirro.
One of the felled suspects identified as Mohammad Abdallah, has been on the police radar in connection with Tanga killings of 11 people including brutal beheading of eight villagers.
The other ISIS-linked suspect identified as Salum Said, alias Tall, alias Pius was 30 years old.
Salum has been linked to a series of cold-blood killing of at least three people in a Mwanza Masjid Rahmani Mosque in last month (May).
According Sirro, the death of the two is a win against terror. The two have been on the run after committing the brutal killings in Tanga and Mwanza, taking refuge in Dar es Salaam.
Sirro thanked members of the public for providing the police with tip-off that made it possible to be gunned down.
The notorious Abdallah was the only remaining member of a gang that was responsible for strings of attacks in Tanga. At one point he was bragging that police were unable to get him saying they are ill-equipped.
Abdallah was also directly linked to the Kibatini murders during which eight men, including a village chairman, were rounded up and herded to a spot where they were beheaded.
A month ago (early May) ISIS terror group in Tanzania published a video showing their weaponry and fighters in the Amboni caves of Tanga region in North East Tanzania signaling a possible surge.

We are going to eliminate all of them within the region.
