
Thursday 24th September 2015, two suicide bombers attacked a Yemen Mosque killing at least 25 people who were attending prayers at the start of Eid al-Adha holiday and injuring scores.
The powerful blast in Yemen’s capital Sana’a hit a mosque that is run by Shi’ite Houthi group. The group seized and took control of the city a year ago.
The Sunni Islamic State rebels considers Shi’ites to be heretics and have in the past months carried out multiple attacks in Yemen including Sana’a deadly car bombings.
The militancy in Yemen is complicated. Already there is an ongoing conflict between government of President Abdu Rabu Mansour Hadi and the Houthis, and then insurgency of the Al Qaeda terrorist in the Arabian Peninsula.
The militant conflict has left more than 4,500 people dead in the past one year and thousands in urgent need of humanitarian aid.
President Abdu Rabu Mansour Hadi had fled Sana’a to Saudi Arabia only to return to Aden on Tuesday after forces allied to the government backed by Saudi-led airstrikes managed to push Houthi rebels back from the city
