31st December 2015, Somali National Army operation saw two Al Shabaab militants killed and seven sympathizers nabbed during a major security swoop in Bula-Burte locality of central Somalia.
An administrator from central Somalia Abdi’asis Ibrahim Durow confirmed the death of the two members of the Somali based jihadist group and their collaborators in Bula-Burte.
Bula-Burte is a strategic town located in Hiiraan region of Central Somalia, some 200 kilometers north of Somali’s capital Mogadishu and believed to harbor Al Shabaab elements though its under control of the combined African Union and Somali government forces.
According to Ibrahim Durow, government forces backed by African Union troops carried out a successful operation to degrade Al Shabaab’s infrastructure.
During the operation Al Shabaab cells were destroyed, two militants were killed and seven sympathizers were arrested. Dangerous weapons were recovered, Durow added.
The arrested collaborators will be interrogated to give headways on Al Shabaab operations.
