18th August 2015, dozens Al Shabaab combatants were killed in a fierce fighting with SNA backed by AMISOM forces in Bakol region, Somalia. The fierce fight claimed at least 20 Al Shabaab fighters injuring several others.
Bakol Deputy Regional Commissioner on Security affairs Abdinor Mohamed Hassan told VOA Service in Somalia that the Al Shabaab combatants were killed in the fighting that erupted in Eelbaar settlement near Hudur district. Hassan also said a few government soldiers were injured.
Normalcy has returned back to the area which is now is in control of the Somali government and allied forces (AMISOM).
In yet another separate incident, at least 25 Al Shabaab fighters were killed in Hiran region including four senior commanders in operations carried out by Somalia forces together with Ethiopian troops who are under the banner of AMISOM.
Somali military officer Captain Adan Mohamud Alasow Indho-bur while addressing the media said the forces inflicted heavy casualties on Al-Shabaab militants during the operations in Harare and Luq-jirow villages during the past two days.
Summary
Indho-bur said they suffered no major casualties on their side and vowed to continue the operations to weaken Al-Shabaab’s military strength in the region.
Al Shabaab continues to lose grounds to Somalia Army and allied forces from their strongholds. The jihadist group affiliated to Al Qaeda has suffered series of blows losing key areas and their fighters.
In the coming days the Somali Jihadists group is expected to embark on a recruitment drive to fill in the gaps the militant group has suffered from their slain fighters.
