29th December 2015, latest military reports from Somalia indicate that a senior leader of the Harakat al Shabaab al Mujahideen movement denounced the outfit and surrendered to Somalia National Army forces in Diinsoor town in Somalia’s southern Bay region.
Confirming the report, Col Abdirahman Sheikh Mohamed said the militant leader identified as Mohamed Ibrahim Dhubow has been in the Al-Shabaab ranks before taking his decision to surrender to Somalia National Army in Diinsoor town.
Mohamed Ibrahim Dhubow who surrendered to SNA troops on Monday afternoon is being held at the SNA troop’s base in Diinsoor town and he is expected to be handed over to National Intelligence and security agency (NISA) prison in Mogadishu for interrogation.
The Al Qaeda affiliated jihadist group in Somalia is facing challenges among them rivalry from the pro-ISIS splinter faction.
Lately key figures mostly who had shifted allegiance to pro-ISIS camp have surrendered themselves to the government for fear of being executed by Al-Shabaab who are considering them as traitors.
