Police in collaboration with other security agencies conducted a joint operation aimed at flushing out suspected Al-Shabaab operatives planning terror attack in the Coastal region.
Members of the public tipped the Police of suspicious persons at a house located at Breeze Point in Malindi.
Police acting on the intelligence swiftly responded and arrested four suspects. One terror suspects identified as Rashid Sultan Mbarak was shot dead after engaging the police on a shootout.
Another suspect identified as Hamud Majid Hamud who had Taurus Pistol was disarmed and his pistol secured.
Police in hot pursuit managed to arrest four other suspects who escaped the dragnet.

Items recovered include, 8 rounds of .38mm special, a laptop, six mobile phones, 18 photocopies of IDs belonging to various people, 15 passport size photos with different names.
Intelligence reports points out the arrested persons belongs to a terror cell of Al-Shabaab’s Jaysh Ayman group.
