Recent OSINT reports indicate Al Shabaab turning on recruiting young boys and street children into the terror group as society tightens war on terror in all capacities.
- Anti-terror police unit in Mombasa on 23rd June 2015 said they are holding Salim Mohammed Wambwilwe, a Muslim cleric suspected to be recruiting primary school pupils into the Al Shabaab terror group.
- On 16th June 2015, OSINT reported the arrest of a student at St Ignatius Mukumu Boys’ High School in Kakamega on terrorism charges.
- 11th June 2015, intelligence sources revealed that Al shabaab were recruiting street boys into the terror group.
ATPU have confiscated Salim Mohammed’s mobile phone for an analysis that would lead to further arrests and to investigate if the accused had connections to the terror groups within and outside Kenya.
Why target young boys and street children?
The Kenyan amnesty to radicalized youth dealt the Al Shabaab terror group a huge blow. They badly need new energy in the group in order to remain relevant.
The terror group also is suffering lack of resources and cannot make it to invest on new recruits. They thus find refuge in street children.
The cleric should start radicalization with his own family before ruining others into slavery terror camps… he should face life sentence
