President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday addressed the 2015 Milken Institute Global Conference in Los Angeles, USA via digital space after his trip was cut short following closure of Yemen airspace by Saudi Arabia military.
Kenyatta’s trip to Los Angeles was cancelled at the last minute after Saudi Arabia military intelligence gave a late notice to Riyadh Aviation flights whch were scheduled to use the same flight path.
This has however not stopped East Africa’s strongest economic hub president from addressing various issues and making contributions in line with prior preparations.
Addressing the forum via video link, the President apologized for being unable to physically attend the forum due to an interruption on his intended flight path but assured key leaders present in the forum that Africa, particularly Kenya was on its upward trend in attracting investors and boosting key economic sectors.

Kenya is among the African countries which have become technology savvy in its various sectors. This has attracted more international investors who are currently working on projects to boost its information and technology sector.
In Kenyatta’s speech addressing Milken Global Forum, the president acknowledged Africa’s diversity in its people. This should therefore be a considerable factor for investors who are willing to venture into the African market.
He further indicated that Africa has gone out of its comfort zones to extend ties with Western countries and is currently working on economic ties with the East.
The Heads of States further stated that Kenya was working on her transport and communications challenges to increase links to other countries. Great investments into infrastructure; expansion of port of Mombasa, contruction of the Standard Gauge Railway and the upcoming port in Lamu will ensure that Kenya stands out as the gateway to Africa.
The President added that Africa’s solidarity is majorly based on the young nation.
In Kenya, various economic sectors are working on ensuring that these young and energetic Kenyans are involved in entrepreneurship, industrialization thus empowering local acquisition of manpower.
Streaming live to Los Angeles, the president affirmed that Kenya enjoys one of the best Internet connectivity in Africa though much was still in progress to ensure that Kenyans enjoy the same at lower market rates.
This will improve on the communication barrier that hinders most businesses.
Other sectors which Kenya is keen to form partnerships include ICT, Agriculture, Energy, Manufacturing and Financial services.
The President is expected to address more concerns with regard to Kenya and Africa at large through video links during the four-day conference with customized focus on telecommunication, energy, transportation and other infrastructure.
