OSINT Summary: Kenya Air-force, a component of the Kenya Defense Forces conducted airstrikes targeting Somali Islamist group Harakat al-Shabaab al-Mujahideen on Thursday 2oth of May 2015.
The airstrikes targeted newly setup bases at Godondhawe an area 3 kilometers south of Balad-hawo in Gedo regions of Somalia.
Kenya Defense Forces squadron of F-5 Tiger fighter air crafts conducted the air raid successfully destroying the militants resources and killing elements who were in the camp.
The area is near the Somali-Kenya border. Intelligence shows the bases are being used to deploy terrorists who often cross the border and conduct terror activities in Kenya.
Initial BDA reports 38 militants training in the camp were killed, ammunition depots were destroyed, and 3 vehicles destroyed.
The Kenya directorate of military intelligence (DMI) reports Somali Islamist group Harakat al-Shabaab al-Mujahideen activities in the Gedo region have increased.
Kenya is on high alert. Strategic army deployment along the border with Somalia has been going on to increase security levels in the country.
