7 Al-Shabaab terrorists were shot dead mid afternoon Wednesday in Basuba forest in Lamu County of Kenya.
Kenya Defense Forces acting on intelligence from their Directorate of Military Intelligence DMI conducted an operation against militant-terrorists from Somalia in Basuba forest.
In the operation, KDF troops killed 7 terrorists who were part of a 13-man squad that had been mobilized and deployed to conduct a terror attack in Lamu area.
In the operation, 7 terrorists were killed and their weaponry recovered which included Kalashinkov assault riffles, hand-held grenades, and a rocket propelled grenade launcher.
One officer from the military succumbed to a gunshot. Three other officers were injured.
The militants crossed the border to Somalia and the Kenya Army 50th Air Calvary has been deployed to pursue them inside Somalia.
Most of the militants are believed to have sustained serious injuries and may succumb to them in the forests.
Kenya has played a key role in destroying and neutralizing the largest terror group in Africa using a multifacted strategy.
The Kenya army has destroyed the training camps, logistics assets, communication systems, and the terrorists economic blueprints thus degrading them.
