How Muslims Saved Christians From Al-Shabaab Terrorists in a Morning Attack in Kenya

Muslims tell Off Al ShabaabSECURITY BRIEF

Monday 21st December 2015, a group of Muslim faithful traveling from Nairobi to Mandera shielded their Christian travelers from Al-Shabaab terrorists who waylaid the bus were travelling in.

In what counter-terrorism experts describe as significant blow to Al-Shabaab ethno-religious strategy in Kenya, the Kenyan Muslims displayed unity, love and harmony setting a new pace in the country’s counter-terrorism purge.

Al-Shabaab combatants tried to separate the Christian travelers from the Muslims counterparts but in a bold move the Muslims told them off and swore to die protecting their fellow Kenyans in what has been described as heroic act of patriotism and love.

When the terrorists tried to force Muslims into taking sides, one man of Muslim faith told a group of 50 to run for their lives.

2 people were killed and 3 others injured in the morning terror incident which happened between Dabacity and Borehole II.

Dabacity township  is located between the dreaded Elwak and Kotulo.

Kenya intelligence and counter-terrorism police are pursuing a group of men believed to be behind the planning of the recent attacks in Kenya.

    I greatly applaud our brave Muslim passengers for standing up for their fellow countrymen/women in the face of death. They put their dear lives on the line for others to live. We may not know them but their brave actions have initiated a revolution of bonding Kenya back together. Proud to be a Kenyan.

    Consider this inspiring Holocaust-era poem written by Martin Niemoller (German):
    First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out – because I was not a communist;
    Then they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out – because I was not a socialist;
    Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out – because I was not a trade unionist;
    Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out – because I was not a Jew;
    Then they came for me – and there was no one left to speak out for me.

      They did. Among the most daring rescuers who rushed to the Westgate were Muslims one of whom was shot in the abdomen and almost died as they fought off the heavily armed terrorists before arrival of reinforcements. The other was the son of former PC Yusuf Haji who was widely hailed as a hero locally and internationally for his bravery in fighting off the terrorists. Others are quietly involved in the dangerous work of passing intelligence and information to security agencies about the activities of the terrorists and suspects. Quite a number have paid with their lives as reported in the local media. You either don’t know this or have very short or selective memory.
