EVENT
26th January 2016, in the wake of recent Al-Shabaab attacks in Somalia, AMISOM has vowed on its intention to remain in Somalia fighting terrorists group especially the Al-Shabaab.
AMISOM acting Force Commander, Maj Gen Nakibus Lakara retaliated that AMISOM troops will remain committed on its core mandate of completely neutralizing and destroying Al-Shabaab insurgency in Somalia.
Maj Gen Nakibus Lakara was speaking during a visit to El Adde which was recently attacked by the insurgents. Maj. Gen Likara also visited other AMISOM bases in Sector II and III.
The acting Force Commander was accompanied by officers from AMISOM Force Headquarters.
The main aim of the visit was to assess the general situation of the troop bases and their respective operations under AMISOM command.
The visit to El Adde AMISOM base was meant to make an appraisal on the ongoing search, rescue and recovery operations by AMISOM’s KDF troops who the Acting Force Commander who re-took the base after the attack.
SUMMARY
In the words of Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta who is the Commander-in-Chief of KDF , Maj. Gen Likara retaliated that AMISOM troops which a force of about 22,000 soldiers will stay put in Somalia to ensure that Al-Shabaab and other terrorist groups are eliminated from this great nation of Somalia.
Maj. Gen Likara also called upon the people of Somalia to involve themselves in bringing peace in their nation.
AMISOM which has been in Somalia for eight years has made huge strides in the restoration of peace in most parts of the country.

KDF is one of the most advanced Military in the World and the Best in East Africa!! They should work on remedial measures, analyze such incidences and come up with future plans on how to counter or stop/abort a similar or a more advanced attacks!!
I think there was laxity and communication breakdown from the commanding level, which made our troops to be caught unaware!! Where were the tankers, where was the surveyllance team, where were the tankers?
