Nigerian army was able to rescue 338 hostages held by the Boko Haram killing at least 30 militants in the comprehensive raid spearheaded by the 28 Task Forces Brigade.
The troops recovered arms and ammunition in the raid as well as ambushed 4 suicide bombers en route to Gubula town killing them and recovering weapons and bomb manufacturing products.
Of the rescued hostages are 192 children, 138 women and 8 men; however it is not clear if of the rescued people there are any Chibok girls rescued.
Boko Haram which is the West African branch of the Islamic State Caliphate has in the past few months lost their footing, become sloppy and less strategic and co-ordinated with increased arrest and thwarted attacks.
International actors like the US have pledged troops, and drones to facilitate the hastened defeat of the Boko Haram injecting the resources to the Boko Haram dedicated Multi-National Joint Task Force working with the Nigerian Army under the three months ultimatum from Nigeria’s President Buhari.
