The Force Commander of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), Lieutenant General Tigabu Yilma visited Baidoa, the headquarters Ethiopian troops in Somalia.
Lt. General Yilma was briefed on the overall security situation and progress being made in implementing the Concept of Operations and the Somali Transition Plan.
He also held closed-door meetings with commanders of the Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF) and thereafter interacted with the soldiers in the sector, a move aimed at encourage them and boosting their morale.
Lt. General Yilma also discussed the security situation in and around the area the Ethiopian troops operate and the state of civil-military projects undertaken by the forces to support the local population.
According to Col. David Obonyo, Chief Military Intelligence Officer, who briefed the media highlighted that the visit of the Force Commander in Baidoa was a routine visit usually done in all sectors.
In addition to that, the Force Commander assessed the ongoing rotation, the movement of AMISOM troops and the general security situation in sector 3 under Ethiopian command.
