US Airstrikes Kill 5 AQAP Operatives in Al-Baydah, Yemen

Latest military reports and referenced by open sources indicate that US military targeted Al Qaeda’s fighters in Yemeni with a series of airstrikes earlier this week.

According to US Department of Defense, five Al Qaeda operatives were killed in central Yemen province of in precision airstrikes.

In Yemen Al Qaeda bastion, US has conducted success airstrikes from January 20 and 22 in Al-Bayda against Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) operatives, killing five of their operatives in the past three days.

Al Qaeda’s presence has destabilized Yemen, using its insurgency to provide a haven from which to plan future attacks against the US and other its interests, the Defense spokesman noted.

“We will continue to degrade, disrupt and destroy al-Qaida and its remnants, and we remain committed to defeating AQAP and denying it safe havens regardless of its locations,” Davis was quoted.

The strikes conducted by the United States continue to diminish AQAP’s presence in the region, the spokesman added.

US in 2016 stepped up its air raids against AQAP in Yemen. US launched 38 successful air bombardments against the insurgent group killed several of its operatives. In 2012, US had conducted 2012 according to a data compiled by Long War Journal.
