U.S. Conduct Airstrike against Al-Shabaab in Support of the Federal Government of Somalia

The latest press release by U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) indicate that U.S. forces in a well-coordinated operation conducted precision airstrike against Al-Shabaab in support of the Federal Government of Somalia.

USAF conducted the airstrike on Thursday, November 9 at approximately 3.p.m local Somalia time killing over two dozen Al-Shabaab militants.

The air raid was conducted in Bay Region of Somalia, about 100 miles west of Somalia capital Mogadishu.

Al-Shabaab, an official branch of Al-Qaeda in Somalia is dedicated to providing safe haven for terrorists planning attacks throughout the world.

Al-Shabaab has publicly committed to planning attacks against the U.S. and the country’s partners in East Africa region especially Kenya.

U.S. forces remains focused in eliminated Al-Shabaab to protect Americans and to disable terrorist threats. This includes partnering with AMISOM and Somali National Security Forces (SNSF), targeting terrorists, their training camps and safe havens throughout Somalia, the East Africa region and around the world.
