U.N. Envoy And Syrian Foreign Minister Discuss Ceasefire, Aid In Syria

UN SYRIA CeasfireFebruary 6, 2016: The United Nations Syria envoy Staffan de Mistura met Syria’s foreign minister Walid al-Moualem on Monday February 15th in Damascus.

Top on the agenda was:

  • Cessation of hostilities
  • Resumption of peace talks in February
  • Need for ‘unhindered’ delivery of humanitarian aid to areas besieged by all parties

UN human rights spokesman has expressed the need for immediate ceasefire condemning the deadly airstrikes on hospitals and schools in northern Syria which has led to loss of innocent lives.

He also sought the investigation into the airstrikes were Syrian and Russian planes have been bombarding, in the event they are deliberate the responsible party be held responsible for war crimes.
