Two Unidentified Attack Helicopters Strike Al-Shabaab Positions in Toratorow town, Somalia


Two unidentified attack helicopters reportedly struck Al-Shabaab positions in Toratorow town, Lower Shabelle, Somalia.

Unverified reports from Somalia media indicate that the aerial raids took place at night; 3.00 a.m. and believed the raids were conducted by Somali Special Forces and Foreign led troops believed to be U.S. troops.

The air raids targeted several Al-Shabaab commanders and operatives in Toratorow town.

Toratorow town is heavily controlled by Al Qaeda affiliated Al-Shabaab.

Al-Shabaab through their pro-websites and media has rushed to claim they foiled the attack and their fighters exchanged fierce gunfire at the commandos who left some of their weapons behind.

It’s not yet clear if the raid targeted Al-Shabaab meeting place in Toratorow or the unsuccessful operation was aimed at rescuing hostages in the town.
