Latest military intelligence reports from Somalia indicate that Al-Shabaab militants continue to deal huge blows from Somalia government forces and the allied troops.
On Monday 11th December 2017, Somalia government forces managed to recapture key villages in southern Gedo region as the army intensified attacks against the militant group, Al-Shabaab.
Confirming on the successes, Colonel Ahmed Ibrahim, a Somali army commander, noted that the forces had launched a major offensive against the militants early Monday morning, capturing strategic areas between Bardere and Garbaharey.
According to Colonel, the operation launched was aimed at securing main supply routes in the region, which has witnessed the surge in Al Shabaab attacks against government-controlled towns near the border with Kenya.
He noted that the operation was a success as the militants’ fled without a major resistance. The government forces successfully emptied their rural pockets between Garbaharey Bardere towns.
