Somalia Former Defence Minister Killed in Mogadishu Blast


Latest reports from Somalia indicate that, ex- defence minister was on Monday 15th February 2016 killed in a Mogadishu blast.

The reports indicate that ex-Defence Minister Mohiyadin Mohamed Haji died in a blast inside his car near Mogadishu’s KM4 junction.

According to corresponding reports from witnesses and police, the bomb was fitted beneath his seat.

Haji has served Somali government of interim Prime Minister Nur Hassan Hussein and he has been working with Kulan Political Association, colleagues confirmed.

The blast left another occupant with him in the car with injuries.

Militants in Somalia have employed fitting of prominent people including high ranking government officials and politicians with explosives in Mogadishu.

No one or group has claimed responsibility for the Mogadishu blast on Monday but such attacks are blamed on the Al Qaeda affiliated Al-Shabaab that is waging attacks on Federal government of Somalia with intention of overthrowing the internationally backed government and instill strict Islamist Sharia Law.
