Somali Commandos (Danab) Conduct Special Operation in Galkayo, Arrest 5 Al-Shabaab Terrorists

Somali National Army’s commando unit (Danab) on Wednesday 10th August 2016 conducted a special operation in Galkayo town on Mudug region and arrested five Al-Shabaab terrorists among them a foreign terrorist commander.

According to a report by Somali National News Agency (SONNA) as briefed by Gen. Ali Bashi Mohamed, a commander with Somali National Army, the foreign militant was the group’s commander for the explosive elements unit

“SNA’s Commandos Unit conducted the operation in Galkayo town in Mudug region today,(Wednesday) we captured 5 Al-Shabaab militants including foreign fighter with Sudanese origin, he was the group’s commander for Explosions, his name is Sa’id Abdullahi Abubakar Al-Sudani”, Gen. Bashi was quoted saying.

The U.S. trained Somali Commandos also known as Danab conduct operations against Al-Shabaab militants especially in the central and southern Somalia in cooperation with foreign troops (AMISOM) in the regions.
