SNA And Allied Troops Recapture Key Town In Galgaduud Region From Ahlu Sunna, A Paramilitary Group Operating In The Area

Somali National Army in collaboration with Galmudug state soldiers recaptured the key town of Mareer Gur area in the central Galgaduud region. The offensive attack launched by the allied forces led to the recapture of the are from the Ahlu Sunna fighters a paramilitary group that has been locking horns with both government soldiers and al Shabaab militants.

Ahlu Sunna has been a constant strife with both Galmudug forces and Al Shabaab as it has been in control of vast areas of the region of the state. While the group mostly seeks to fight against radicalization and implementation of strict sharia laws, it has posed a security threat as it refuses to work with government forces to fight extremist elements.
